CHRISTMAS

Today we celebrate Chrismas. It was very funny. All brought food, but first we present our recipe and then we ate listening carols and finally we play a game about the christmas (and my team won). A test of the game was wrapping a person as a gif, it was fun and another test was that a person had to sing a carol in a serious tone.

Today we went to the computer room because we had to finish our infographic about human rights.

We had to do a similar infographic with statistics that the teacher give us.
In my team, we have created a new great world. We put a lot of fabulous images.
I think in our world all the people have the same human rights. It's a fair world. 

On friday, all the class have to show the infographic.
I think everybody have created a wonderful world.

A KNEW PLANET

Last Friday, we play a game that consisted in, our teacher gave us a list of different types of persons, like 15 more or less and we had to choose only 10 that we wanted to live in our planet, it was like starting a knew planet from the begining. There were from a mother of 29 years pregnant of 3 childs that works as a teacher, till a man that has 45 years with flu and works as an astronaut. So you can imagine how difficult it was. Finally we went to the computer room to start a knew activity.

Unit 5 - Fighting for a cause - VAW

The Right Humans

Today in class, We have seen the human right that be present in all being human, we have work about this topic while we were waching some videos that shown the true right humans aroud the world but the most important thing is that there are people in the world who does not have certain rights as others.

For exemple we have the of have a home but not everyone is entitled to this because of the great difficulties of the world.

In the last class we talked about the Violence Against Women, Sara and I talked about the workplace harassment and we did a prezi about it.

This it's a song about the respect against women of my favourite singer Tupac Amaur Shakur.

Violence Against Women

Today we had an special class, we went to computer's class and had a diferent exercice, we made groups of two or theree people, and select a type of VAW(Violence Against Woman), and made a presentatation of it. My group did it about rape, one of the worst types of violence, because it causes physical and psycological injuries, we did it on Prezi.

Yesterday was the day of violence agaist woman, because of it we made this activity today. Gender violence is a serious problem, because in a big part of the world is accepted like a costume, for exemple in India the act of rape is not a crime, and it's normal, every day a lot of woman are raped and killed for her's husbands and nobody goes to cell or is judged, that is narrated in a Jn Sistiaga 's report, named "No es país para mujeres".

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMAN

I'm going to talk about violence against women as we have done at class today.

It makes me feel so sad and worried when I talk about this, also to the rest of the class is the reason why we were like that today, because is really sad the fact that a lot of woman nowadays still suffering it.

There is violence against woman in a lot of situations that people think it is usual and normal.

The world advances in a lot of aspects but in others it seems we go back.

Can we do anything? Do we? Could the woman that suffer it answer them? How?

There are a lot of questions and a lot of opinions, in my hubble opinion we can only make awere people and try to help the women that we know maybe they are suffering it.

I have chosen this video because it is made by the world association of scouts, and I have been scout since I was a child.

It is very interesting, because it has made me think more about it.

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

In the past few days, we've learned about Remembrance Sunday and we've had the opportunity to reflect on the First World War and even commemorate some veterans.

The poppy

Last Friday was in my opinion the best class, only the activity of Halloween had been better.
First of all the teacher showed us a flower and we had to find out what it was. 

It was a poppy. I was the one who found out what it was.
The poppy is a symbol to commemorate those who died in World War I.

First we had to open a page where we had to sign in, in order to commemorate one person who had died in IWW. Then, the teacher gave us some pieces of coloured felt and we cut them with a pair of scissors to make the shape of a poppy.

GUY FAWKES

In our Holidays Unit, we've been dealing with History. Have you enjoyed the story of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot? It is very interesting that people still celebrate it 400 years later, isn't it?

WHAT HAVE WE DONE IN CLASS TODAY?

First Mary remember  us what we learned the day before about the history of Henry VIII with fantastic images that showed his aspect  and his women ...

Below we have begun to study the life of James first, his life and his political thoughts.

Thanks to this and still today November 5, mary has explained what the November 5th in Britain. Today is Guy Fowkes day !! explained us everything about this day, the story of this character, his intentions to blow up parliament and blow up james I, and has made us a video about what people in Britain think and how they organize this great night in Winchester.

Finally, so that we can better understand this story, she has put us parts of the movie "V of Vendetta" where this history are very clear.

During the class has given us material of the videos and the history of james I.

Finally  has put us the trailer for the movie and we have recommended it to show it at home.

In my opinion there isn´t better form to tell the story that these methods work, videos,  activities pages... a brilliant exercise class !!

Today the lesson was about the history, I thought it would be very boring, but it was very intreresting. When I get home, I looked about more information, and I found 2 films about him.

Introduction to Guy Fawkes Night

Today the teacher introduced the topic of Guy Fawkes Night and to do so, she talked about the creation of the Church of England, the fight between the Catholics and the Protestants, the Tudors and James I.

HALLOWEEN

Unit 3 is about Holidays and one of the most famous and fun ones is Halloween. I hope you enjoyed the two lessons we've devoted to it.

Halloween.

Last friday, we made a party in class because it was Halloween. It was scaring!
We bring cakes, cupcakes, cookies... a lot of food.
Also, we dressed up as vampire, zombie...
After that, we saw trailers of scary movies. It was fantastic because we love this type of films.
It was fantastic and so funny!

Preparing for Halloween...

 TRYING TO GET US SCARY!

I this class, the teacher tried to prepare us before Halloween. There were a few frights that nobody expected...

We saw Vincent, that it's a 1982 stop-motion short horror film written, designed and directed by Tim Burton. We had the words of what they were saying in the video while we were watching it. We had to fill some gaps, so we listened carefully.

We also saw this short video about a strange and a bit scary situation that happened to this boy.

We watched it a few times and took some notes. Then, we had to write the story thinking that it was us in the place of the boy (that wasn't a nice feeling!).

These are some of the writings that we made.

I think this class was fun, I wouldn't mind repeating it again.

TRAVEL

We've been dealing with traveling for two weeks. Have you enjoyed it? We've been daydreaming about the perfect trip, the most exotic or the longest one. I hope you liked it.

TRAVEL AGENT

Last Monday, we play a activity that consisted of selling a trip to the classmates for they to get to know Where? Why? When? and How? to go. For my team and I was very easy to convince them because we have the city of Burlinghton (England) and with all the monuments and museums, night clubs, incredible gastronomy and beautiful hotels, we had it almost everything done! 

When each group finished the presentation, they went outside of the class for a minute while the other groups gave them 0, 5 or 10 points. At the end of the lesson we sum up all the points and only one group can be the winner!

Vancouver

The last Friday , We visited Vancouver a interesting and amazing city . It's a city of Canada , located west of the country near Victoria. In class we performed a project of Vancouver where we read a lot of brochures and we said what we'd like to visit. We had to get into groups of two and answer some questions.

PREZIS ABOUT TRAVELLING

What have we done in class today? 

Today in class we have seen the Prezis that our classmates had done. All the projects have been very interesting and enterteining, we have learned a lot of of things!

All the groups have showed their works of their trips and have explained the places they would go. When I have seen it I have longed to travel around the world.

Traveling the world

Today, we watched some interesting videos about traveling. In the first one, a boy visited 11 countries in 44 days and he made two more videos about the food he ate in those places and also the activities he did in journey.

In the last video, we saw another boy that traveled around the world in only 10 days!

At the end, we also ordered famous quotes like <<In the end it is not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years>>.

Now we are preparing an activity in groups: we have to create a diary of our own trip around the world. In the second hour of class we went to the Computer Lab to start doing this because we must do it using Prezi to present it online.

PHONETICS

Gradable task and other things

Last Friday, we read a text in public and the score depend of how well we didi it, the text was about yoga, it was an interesting text, because it talks about the president of India and how he explain the United Nations how important yoga is.

  After it, we played a game, it consisted in:

-First we organized in groups.

-Later we selected a judge and an actor.

-The actors performed sentences written on the board like they were acting, and the judges had to rate the performance.

The first sentence was "If you only knew how much it hurts" and this sentence reminded me one of my favourites songs Hurt of Johnny cash.

The second sentence was "I'm the master, the supreme master" and reminded me of another song, this is from Tenacious D movie, and it's called The history of Tneacious D, but the sentence reminded me of that song because the word supreme is repeated a lot at the end of the song.

Racism

I'm Belén, and I would like to talk about racisim. In the last class we had to read a text abou it, and we only were trying to make a perfect pronunciation but it's more than that, there was a post about racism, and here I'm goning to show you a video about it, just because I don't like racism at all.

Anyway the pronunciation was also important, I wish tomorrow you will get a good mark, good luck!!

English sounds: vowels and diphthongs

In this class of English we talked about English sounds, we have examples of each of the letters creating a list.  We reviewed the letters that we had already studied and also diphthongs.

What have we done in class?

In class today, we have given the pronunciation of the vowels of which seven are pronounced short form and five of longer form.
We played a game has teams had to form three groups of words to pronounce themselves equal.
We have also seen a video of the Mayor of Madrid, speaking in English and poor pronunciation and speaking.
With what I have come to the conclusion that the pronunciation in English is very important, because if you pronounce a word wrong; they can understand another word that is not, as can be (BEACH) and ("BITCH").
